65 tires/wheels/spring question

getting ready to buy wheels and tires for the 65, and i need a little help on proper sizing... im figuring 16 x7 wheels, 225 55 16 tires...am i going to run into any major snafu's with this combo? the front lips have already been rolled, as has the drivers rear, and the car hasnt been painted yet, so we can still roll the last wheel lip, if need be.ive installed granada spindles on it, and ive read somewhere that with these spindles, you dont want to go wider than 7 inches... any input on that? lastly, i have 2 sets of factory leaf springs,im thinking of taking one set apart, cutting the eyes off the top leaf, and adding it to the other set, to stiffen it up... has anyone given this any thought? i dont want to stiffen the ride up too much, but i need to balance the 620 grab a trac's up front out.

225/55-16s are about the largest that you can put on the rear without a problem, especially if you lower the car. I've run 245s and they rubbed on larger road bumps.dips after lowering the car. This seems to be common on 65-66 models. 4" backspacing, right? I would still roll that last lip. If you have had the Shelby drop done to the front, you should be ok as you get some neg. camber gain when cornering and that helps with tire rub. Goog luck.

BTW, no experience with Granada spindles.

225/60-15s are popular, but you can get a little more on the rear, if you can find an equivalent circumference. I don't know much about what's available in 15s. 2BAV8 runs 15s, maybe he can help out.
