I've been refreshing this thread every day for 3 years now. Where are the pics? For the life of me I can't find any other thread on this board concerning this front end. Price went up this month, too.
Sorry, I have had a few "life events" that have held up the project. Got divorced two years ago, dad died last year, and mom was diagnosed with cancer last fall.
Life is getting better, so I have started working on it again. I can post some pics next week. I just finished fitting and mounting one of the fenders. Will be fitting the driver's side this weekend, and will get the front end put on to post the results.
Bringing this one back from the dead. My god it's been that long? It is just amazing how fast time goes by when life is beating you down. Things are great now. The car is running, I have the front end mounted and just have to add the grill tonight for fit. I will post the pics in the morning.
Looks like I will finally get to drive in the morning, baring any weird stuff. Got a little tuning to do first. I will need to figure out the little rings that go around the headlights. The don't fit at all... I'll see if my ability to massage the shape matches my patience with this project. That is my only complaint about the front end at this point.
I did coat the entire inside of the glass with rubberized undercoating. A guy that builds boats suggested it. He says it keeps the glass from getting brittle???? Only time will tell.
Aaarrrggg, I worked on some stuff to get it on the road for a test drive without getting a ticket... headlights, brake lights, turn/marker, and rear backup. I also figured out the weird idle (the EGR baffle was pushed off to the side). And lastly, the P/S pump line was leaking. (got to get the adapter from the 68 pressure line to the 91Pump.)
The Cobra front end looks like it might be just a bit wide (1/4" or so). When I laid the hood in there, the back side is nice and tight, but there is 3/8th" gap on either side. I was hoping for an 1/8".
What would be a good gap normally? Oh, and I will get the pics posted tomorrow. Frustration go the best of me today!
Here is mine... I am modifying it a bit (not pictured) I added fiberglass to where the stock grill trim pieces go so it will all be "flat" fiberglass. Also adding driving lights where the turn sigs are now and using Harley turn signals in the brake ducting holes...

Funny, I am doing driving lights in the break duct holes. I see you had the same issue with mating to the fenders on the sides. the angle seems off a bit. My fenders are the brand new OEM tooling so I know that life has not massaged them out of the original, if you know what I mean. I am adding strip aluminum and wraping it with glass for the middle opening. Just seemed flimsy? The rest of it is very high quality!!! Would recommend it to anyone.
Once I have driven it for the remainder of the "good months" I also plan to make the lower "valance" look more like the '08's lower. I think it would just look cooler? But, that's why they call it a restomod!!! Right?
How close are you to finishing? I hope your project does not take as long as mine.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the center being flimsy... And you are correct, does seem like the mold is just a little off on the sides, I am working with OEM fenders too. Other than that it is a great piece that not too many people have... I am in bodywork hell right now, so I've still couple a month or two before I am back on the road.... Good luck to you, I like you idea with the lower opening, that should look real good.
