Any advantage/disadvantage going with 67 LCA/strut configuration on a 68/73 Mustang?

I don't own a 67, but found a smoking deal on a 67 style aftermarket suspension. I did a little poking around around the web, and it appears the 67 strut rod mounts diffrently at the LCA? Any one have any input? Thanks,

Mike

I actually thought all LCA's had the 4 holes for the strut. They have this so they can make one LCA and it can be used for both sides. Correct me of I'm wrong though. I just looked at my '66 LCA's and they both have 4 holes for the strut of which only 2 are used for each side.

So in short my answer is either way you'll only be using 2 of the holes for the strut.

The 67 did have a 1 off setup. I'm replacing all the suspension on my 67 with 68 stuff.
I believe it sounds like you are asking if you put a 67 setup on a non 67 car, I believe the answer to that might be....what year car?

As long as you use the lower control arm setup with the same year strut rod, you should be fine. My car had a run in with a telephone pole a long time ago, and the driver side was replaced with stuff off of a 67. The other side was factory 68. No problem with alignment or fit, I didnt know it was that way until I put all new stuff on it a couple of years ago...

Funny,

I called TCP (which is what brand I'm looking at) and asked if their coil over suspension for the 67 would work on a 69. He said it would not, because the way it mounts is different. I specified the entire suspension was to be changed on the 69 with the 67 TCP kit, and he still said it will not work. Not sure if I got a misinformed tech guy, or what. Are the any chassisworks guys that frequent this website? Anybody else?

Yes there is. Can't remember his user name. I'll see if I can find it.

CHeck out the difference in the LCAs
Total Control Products
THe 67 part LCA-05 has 4 holes, and the 68-70 part LCA-06 has 2 holes for the strut rod...which is identicle to the repop LCAs on CJPony parts for 67 and 68-73 respectivily. So, my guess (and I stress the word "guess") is that if you are using the 67 strut rod on a 70, you "should' be able to use the TCP coil over kit for a 67...

You can use the 67 parts on a 68-70 but you must use the 67 lower arms AND the 67 strut rods. The 67 lower control arm was a 1 year part.

I finally did get in touch with a different TCP tech rep today, and yes as long as the 67 system is installed as a whole it will work. Case closed.

Thanks for the help/replies/info guys.
