I'm trying to get the rear window molding in after restoring my 68 fastback. I took it apart over 6 years ago and don't remember what the molding clips look like, plus I don't have the original molding. I've bought two different molding kits from two different shops (John's Mustang and NPD). Both were from the same vender. The lower molding in both kits was about 1 1/2 inches to short. I tried using the upper molding for the lower molding (it was long enough) but it didn't have the correct arch or bend like the lower molding would. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, are the molding clips for the rear window the same as the coupe or the same on the the front windshield?

Please help!!

Completly puzzled and frustrated,
Dave

I can't say 100% for sure that they gave the correct kit. I do know that all the pieces other than the bottom piece does not fit right and it was the only one that wasn't labeld where it went on the car.

Anyone else have or seen this problem or can give any info?

I feel your pain man... I did the moldings with aftermarket kit about 7 years ago when i completed my restoration and I know how frustrating this can be. The aftermarket kits fit like sh$t. They don't engage the clips right, the bends in the corners aren't accurate enough to fit properly and they are just a bear to get on without damaging them. In the end, I manaed to get them on pretty good, but damaged parts of the molding by denting them trying to get them to engage the clips. I am keeping my eyes peeled at swap meets for factory stainless pieces and will polish them and hopefully get a better fit. I don't recall my pieces being short like you describe however. Good luck man and just remember, walk away and get a beer if you get too frustrated :D
