Progress Thread 68 Gt500kr Vert - Take Two

The Shelby Nose is made up of 5 different fiberglass parts - they don't fit well together and aren't that strong bolted together. We glued and fit the nose as one piece now. Looks so much better and it's easier to fit. Just have to do the final tuning on the hood and it's ready for paint.

Wow, I haven't posted in a while...the car is back home again...latest body shop went bankrupt and closed.....I haven't had much luck with shops....on the hunt for a new one... The car is mostly painted and ready to finish up. Doing black Super Snake Top & Side stripes. The body shop lost a few parts on me and i lost a little money....The engine had to go a Machine Shop to be cleaned out, the body shop didn't properly seal it when they took it out, dust inside the motor. The shop is going to clean it out and put it all back together.

Looking good! I'm doing a Shelby-ish restomod on a '67 vert. I spent a year trying to find a paint/body shop and when I did I spent another year on the waiting list. But 8 months later I got the car back. I hope you did not have to deal with (pay for) much rust repairs, welding/drinding/fabricating new steel was about 67% of my cost at the shop.

I am doing ALL of the mechanical work except for hanging the doors and lining up the fiberglass.

Put the nose and fenders back on..fit the radiator, ac system, fan relays, overflow tank, power steering cooler, horns, grille, started the wiring, installed interior ac unit, ran the engine electric lines, ignition system, rear electric lines, front fog and headlight lines, and a bunch of other little stuff

I setup the deluxe doors.. what a pain in the ass... no instructions or examples anywhere on the internet.. plus the driver side door turned out to be a 67, different metal setup under the panel, had to make a metal bracket for the arm rest. Installed the courtesy lights, door pulls, speakers, remote mirror, pass mirror, painted the insides of the doors with rust converter, installed the panels, installed new latches and weatherstrip. Started on the windows setup. Painted the mechanism and tinted the windows.
