My brother is thinking about buying a 69 with an inline six. If he buys it he wants to put a V8 in it. I don't know what size engine it has in it. I may not be able to go with him to look at it so I want to make sure I'm telling him right. Is it correct that the 200 sixes had 4 lug wheels, suspension and rearends like the earlier cars (which would have to be swapped out) and the 250 had the same 5 lug wheels, rearend and suspension as the 302 cars? Thanks for any answers.

Yep...some of the I6 stuff front end stuff like the spindles is V8 spec on 67-on cars though, so you wouldn't have to swap out EVERYTHING on the 200 I6 car. Like you said though, the 250 => V8 swap is pretty brainless :D

Thanks for the replys. I want to make sure that I am understanding this correctly. Even if the car has a 200 he could swap out the front hubs and backing plate and be through with the front suspension. What about the rearend? Does it have an 8'' with 4 lug axles? If it does he should be able to swap axles, drums and backing plate and be ok, right. Thanks for any more answers. BTW this will be his first Mustang in about 28 years. I'll be glad to see him get back into the hobby (or madness depending on which way you look at it.)

Thanks 5.0ina66. That's the info I wanted to know. I talked to him awhile ago and he said it was a 200 I6. He still hasn't seen the car yet. Does it have the small transmission like the older Mustangs? If it does will the shifter work on the bigger 3 speeds?

Thanks for the info. Is there is anything else he might need to know? I'm not familiar with the 69's at all. I think I know where we can get him an 8 inch rear cheap (if the guy hasn't already sold it) and front hubs too. I really hope he gets it.
