Are AFR165's (#1402) drilled for 1/2" head bolts, and if so, do they need a bushing/spacer for the 7/16" bolts that I will be using?

Thanks,
Rick

If the heads have 1/2 holes they will need the spacers or stepped bolts. ARP makes them.

That's what I thought, but I asked the guy on the phone at the place I bought them from told me that they were 1/2", but as long as the dowels on the deck were new or in good condition, that they be enough to locate the head and 7/16" bolts would work. That doesn't seem like a good idea to me, but I'm not really sure. I'd feel better with some bushings or the stepped bolts, but since I've already got my ARP 7/16" bolts, I'd need a bushing.

I just don't know if the heads are drilled for 1/2" or not. Does anyone know if they are 7/16" or 1/2". AFR's website makes it kinda seem that they are drilled to 7/16", but it doesn't clearly say which. If you have 165's, what did you use?

Does anyone know if AFR165's are drilled for 7/16" head bolts/studs, or are they drilled for 1/2" bolts/studs?

Running a head made for a 1/2" hole with a 7/16" stud or bolt will leqd to head gasket issues eventually.

If anyone needs the bushings/washers I have a brand new set from ARP that I didn't need for a customers car and I will sell them cheaper then you can buy them. Rick91GT@suscom.net

RICK91GT---- Do the bushings just sit on the top of the head and go down on the hole just a little or are they the full length of the hole?

Yes exactly......

The bushing takes place of the washer, and has a small lip that goes in the 1/2" head hole.
