I now see you problem.
You have a 74'
It never came with a V-8
I had a 78' Mustang II with a factory V8 and C4
I put long tube headers on it and they fit fine.
The most difficult part of the whole exhaust system was getting (2) 3" exhaust pipes up over the differential and out the passenger side.
The fuel tank is offset to the drivers side so both pipes have to go out the passenger side.
It looked pretty bad ass.

I used the blackjacks. They fit with a little hammer massage.

You're welcome. However, looking at 2Blue2's photo above it appears the correct numbers are D5ZE-9430-AC for right side and D5ZE-9431-AA for left side. The crash guide part numbers were D5ZZ instead of D5ZE. I would go with the D5ZE part numbers.

I have Blackjack headers on my factory 4-speed 1978 and don't remember any mods. Not easy to install though.

Heck, I should have read through this post until the end. Just went and dug mine out.
