Thanks Iskwezm, those are the choices I found as well - the reason I asked is the guy that I bought the car from said something about having 3.89 gears put in but I did not think that was an option on a 8" rear.
Is there easy way to tell what gear was installed without taking everything apart?
Sure. Count the ring teeth, count the pinion teeth, divide.
If its in the car, then jack up the rear, mark the d/s with chalk, turn a rear wheel and count d/s revolutions against one turn of the wheel. Divide. This wont be exact, but will be fairly close.
