83 5.0 any good for swap?

I have an 88 gt 4cyl and I'm looking at an 83 5.0 carbed. Any opinions and comments on the swap. Is it a good motor

I wouldnt just stick it in the car.... I don't believe it is a HO motor with the pistons and cam. But its a good block to start with

I wouldn't bother myself, but everyone is different.
83 is still in the low point of Ford engine quality and performance.
I'd hold out for an HO* from 87-92, or a 96-97 Ford Explorer 5.0.
If you go Explorer, and get the entire engine at salvage yard prices ($500), you can sell off the intake and TB, as well as other fuel injection parts, to get a bit of your money back. (Assuming you are set on using a carb)

*Not all 5.0s are HO!

Same as the others, I would pass and wait for a roller HO motor
