84 Factoiry AM/FM Cassette Radio Volume Control Issues

I have the title radio with the booster with the switch on the lower dash right above your right knee. Volume goes crazy at times. If you cycle the on - off knob it will eventully go back to normal. Any fixes?

If you're comfortable doing it, you could disassemble and clean the potentiometer (volume control) with rubbing alcohol, proally just dirty...
