Well not technically a barn...My mom works at a storage facility in Northern California and got to talking with a customer a month or so ago. He told her that he'd had the unit for many years and was wanting to clear it out. He mentioned that he had an old Mustang in there amongst other things. She told him that I might be interested and got his number.
We got together to check it out a few weeks later and worked out the details. Turns out, the guy I bought it from is a lawyer in San Francisco and took the car as payment from a client. He went ahead and put the car in storage because he didnt have any need for it. My mom looked at the records and he originally rented the unit in 1991. He said it was one of the first things to go into the unit.
The car only has 37,xxx original miles and although not perfect, is in real nice shape considering it's all original and 35 years old. It's going to need some tlc before I get it back on the road, but I'm pretty stoked and looking forward to getting it running again. It has a sticker on the mirror from a city of Sausalito parking pass that expired in 1985 so it seems a good chance that it's always been a California car. It was off the dmv records when I got it.
I've got to obviously change fluids and some seals and gaskets, but the car was driven in and parked where it was so hopefully nothing too drastic. Hope y'all enjoy.
