the AT trannys came with a weird Fuel Injection, and Manual Trannys came with 4 BBL holley carbs. i was wondering how i can swap my AT 5.0 to carb. i'll also be swapping the trans to a manual sooner or later. i was thinking of going with an edelbrock intake and a 600 CFM carb. i dont know anything about carbs, so tell me if that is a good carb or what not.

thanks in advance.

I have an edelbrock rpm intake and a holley 600 double pumper. Works well. I'm sure the edelbrock carb will be fine too. I may be getting a new carb though with vacuum secondaries and electric choke because the '85 is my daily driver and electric choke will be nice in the winter. If I do I'll be getting another Holley since my fiance works there (discount ).

My '85 was carbed from the factory with a 570 cfm vacuum secondary holley.

Good luck with the swap...shouldn't be too hard.

cool. i was wondering if your intake manifold has lines and hoses coming out of it. cuz my intake has prolly 7-9 hoses and lines and wires coming out and going into other parts of the engine(like wiring harness and shyt). i was wondering if i bought an edelbrock(i've seen pics of the intakes and the look like they have the holes on top[for the carb] and holes going into the heads. and thats it) where would i redirect these hoses? or would i simply eliminate them? if anybody has these answers, i think it'd be you.

Yes my intake has vacuum hoses coming off of it. I can't remember exactly how many or where they go. I know there is an electrical line for the temp sensor and there may be one other electrical wire for something, if I remember right. Not sure if you'd have extra hoses (being fuel injection) compared to the carb'ed version...you may want to search on that some more.

You WILL also need to connect and calibrate the kickdown linkage so you don't burn up your auto tranny. I think you can use all the same linkage you already have with your setup. If not you can getr what you need form Windsor Fox. I think their website is www.windsorfox.com
