85 5.0 LX spits and sputters - Please help.

I bought an 85 5.0 w/ auto tranny and TBI. It runs fine at idle and low RPM, but when I give it the gas it just sputters and won't go. I changed the fuel filter and plugs, but that's all I've done so far. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Was it sitting for a while before you bought it? You might try fresh gas?

My vert did the same thing. I never could fix it. I ended up making it carbed.

Sounds like maybe its not advancing timing like it should? So at idle and low rpm its fine but when you step on it there is no advance so it falls flat on its face. Just a shot. Could be not getting fuel too or a number of other things really. Just check the basic stuff first and eliminate it.
