Post the pics of the saleen in the saleen section of stangnet, and ask them what's missing from the car, and what can possibly be purchased, and the potential value of the car if you fix it up.
They know there stuff there.

Just don't screw up the pics overthere, they are saleen mustang guys, not computer guys, they won't know how to fix the pics for you, like someone did here.

A clean 4 eye saleen, is a sweet ride, and is very desireable.

For instance... 1 of 6 Saleens that had a black exterior with red interior. That sort of thing.... if you know so much about saleens you should know that.

Yes, i did understand what he meant.

My shrug was whether or not the original poster had meant it like that.

Then again, from the tiny pic i can see, it looks like his is black w/gray interior. I would think with almost 200 made that year, that combo would be common.

As far as i know, the production numbers given by that particular person (i forget the guys email who has the info) only reflect body stye, exterior color and interior color and do not take into account individual options.

86mustang, what number Saleen is it?

Really that 1 of 6 means nothing in the big scheme of things.
That's just something guys like to say to make something sound even more rare.
Saleens came so many different ways, damn near anything could change the ratio.
My explorer would probably be 1 of 1, based on options for 2000
Or 1 of 31 Based on options and year
Or 1 of 120 based on total number of truck in 3 years

But i just say 1 of 120 because that's how many were made total.

Now if that saleen were to of had an SC on it from the factory (which didn't come till later) that would be worth mentioning.

That car is hurting, missing important things, like rear valence, rims, i'm sure the seats are torn up.
Worth saving? absolutely, a cost effective project for a young mustang noob, probably not.

All the info is readily available in the saleen book, give me the number of the car and i'll look it up.

I'm no Saleen expert but that doesn't look like an 86 Saleen. If it is... it's pretty ragged out and missing a lot of things. Your GT looks 100 times better!

yeah, of all the '86 saleens i've seen....that is like missing everything that proves its a saleen lol. Isn't it suppose to have "netted" head rests on the seats? But it could be one. Show us the Saleen production # and i'll believe it..

Wait.... that pic was my bad. I looked through his Putfile stuff and picked the pics that I thought went with the car. Looks like I grabbed a pic from his GT instead. Here's the pic that I think belongs with the car in question:

I do see some 86 Saleen similarities in that car.

Side skirts
Wing (can't tell if it's authentic)
Pinstripe
Side rubber thingies (the nomenclature escapes me ATM)

Things that I notice are missing:

Hood
Front valance
Decals
and the side skirts that are that car look wrong.
