I have draglites on my 89 right now (15x7 front and 15x8 rear).. I'm looking at a set of 03 cobras and they only come in 17x9 or 17x10.5. I know the pre-91 foxes supposedly have smaller wheel wells and fenders. Anyone successfully running 17x9's all around on an 87-90, and if so what size tires? Any pics? Thanks.

I am currently running 17x9 Weld Pro-star XP's on all four, but with a five-lug conversion with no issues whatsoever. 245-45-17 on front and 275-40's in the back, I can fit a 315-35 in the back, which I will do in the near future.

One of my best friends did it. He had 17x9 AFS Cobra R wheels with 255/45R17's on an '88 convertible. Rear fit fine. Fronts rubbed on the GT ground effects at the front of the fender opening at full lock, but anythgin less than full lock was 100% fine.

I don't believe 17x10.5" will fit. Definitly not on a convertible anyway.

I'm running 245x45x17 (17x9 rims) all the way around and they work fine on my 1990 convertible. but I had to notch the control arms on the front to keep the inside of the tire from rubbing at full lock. I just used a dremel and took out about 2 Millimeters. (sorry 1/8 of an inch). My car is lowered 1 1/2" so you might not have any issues at all.

Other than that they've been great.

I can't get my pictures on the site, but email me if your interested and I'll email a couple pics to you of the 17x9 Saleen wheels on my car

Cheers

17x9's all the way around. 275's out back and 245's out front. Only rubs at full lock on the controll arm not enough to matter though.

I know.... I know it needs to be lowered!

Those are some nice looking cars. Are you guys happy with the way 245s fit on those 9" wheels? Seems a little close for comfort to me and I was thinking about going with 255s in the front/275s rear because of that.

The fit is fine on mine.. 255/40s would probably be my next choice..

Good Luck!

The 245's are a tad small for the rims. Next time around I'm going to go with 255 up front.
