'87 front cover dowel(s) - help

I'm putting my 5.0 back together and I notice on the front cover that there is a hollow alignment dowel on only one side of the lowest bolt hole. So I was thinking there are supposed to be two? Then I searched the forum here and I see one post that mentions 4 dowels? The hole where the the other dowel would seem to be is larger the the side with the dowel. Can somebody please tell me how many are supposed to be there? Thanks.
