255 should not rub. Still running quad shocks? Rolled fenders? What are they rubbing on? Fwiw I have 315s on 17x10.5 rims and have pretty much no rub unless I take a hard corner.

There 255 50 17 they are tall it seems like. When i have passengers in the back it rubs or a very hard bump. Idk if i have quadshocks still lol. Heres a pic.

The blue one is your quad. You can try installing it backwards but I think you will likely need to remove it. I'm not familiar with a 17x9 rim that won't touch it.

I've got an 86 GT. Running 17x9 Cobra r's with Nitto 275/40/17 tires. Strange adj shocks, maximum Motorsports lower control arms, team z Motorsports springs and still have the quad shocks on. Every once in awhile I get a slight rub if I have people in car and go over a dip but otherwise no issues. Removing the quad shocks and keeping stock controll arms can result in wheel hop if you launch hard from a stop. Some people get lucky and have no problems most don't. If you install a good set of control arms you can remove them.

Take the quads off. You can run 275-40-17 on a 10-1/2" rim, on the rear

17x8 245/45r17 with stock a arms you need a kit to limit the rack. They are 20$ and slip in behind the boots on the rack.

Roll your rear wheel lip; 17x8 and 17x9 245/45 275/40 no rubbing, its probably the most common tire sizes folks run

This is how mine sat with Eibach pro kit springs/struts/shocks. No rub on inside.
