I finally got me a 87 gt. It has ttops with 79k original miles all stock last titled in 97 and garsged ever since. I drained tank and replaced filter and all fluids. New distributed, plugs and wires. Not I finally got it running but after 15-20min of riding it acts up and loses power. It idles fine but if pedal is pushed it sputters. I replaced the tps and it still acts the same. I'm lost at this point and any help would be appreciated.

Well, 1987's don't have a functional check engine light.

So step #1 would be to read the codes. There are a few methods to do it with a paperclip, and test light, but the $30 investment in a code reader will save you lots of $$ in replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

The how to dump the codes with a paper clip & test light is in the checklist below along with a lot of other useful tech help.

You guys with idle/stall problems could save a lot of time chasing your tails if you would go through the Surging Idle Checklist. Over 50 different people contributed information to it. The first two posts have all the fixes, and steps through the how to find and fix your idle problems without spending a lot of time and money. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions. You can post questions to that sticky and have your name and idle problem recognized. The guys with original problems and fixes get their posts added to the main fix.

It's free, I don't get anything for the use of it except knowing I helped a fellow Mustang enthusiast with his car. At last check, it had more than 159,000 hits, which indicates it does help fix idle problems quickly and inexpensively.
