88 5.0 Ho compression?????

what is the acceptable compression for an 1988 5.0 ho?

i am looking to purchase the motor with less than a 100k on it and was needing to know what range is ok.

also besides vaccum, compresssion and oil pressure what else should i check or look for? the motor is still in the car so i can hear it run and drive it.

What matters more than where the numbers are, but rather how far apart the range between the different cylinders is . . . I think one of my repair manuals says something like 15-20% difference is ok, but I've also heard that more than 5% difference is bad ( but I think that might be a bit over conservative); I'm not sure but if the numbers are all close and over 150 PSI you're probably good . . .
