No not painted yet. I'm going to do the 5 lug swap first. Maybe my parents will have it painted for me for graduation? For the meantime, I'll give it a decent spray bomb job just so it's all one color.

It's one of the benefits of having divorced parents. Neither knows what to get you but they're willing to split the cost of things.

Well I'm one step closer to getting this POS painted. Picked up a set of LX bumpers today for $40. Only bad thing is the front one has a chunk missing out of it on the left corner but I think I can fix it. I still need a set the fender extensions though... Once I find a set of those and fix this bumper, it'll be ready for paint.

Looks like it might be a little while before paint now. Need to do some gasket replacing.

Started really tearing it down today. Managed to get the intake and valve covers off. I have to say it's a bit intimidating for an 18 year old with nothing but a Haynes manual to just start tearing this thing down haha.

Progress from today:

Heads will be coming off tomorrow if time allows.

Make sure to get new head bolts. I also like to use Carb studs to hold the intake gaskets in place and guide the intake back in place.

i like the gt front i would keep that and the color combination you speak of would look great on it .maaco isn't bad if you get all your body panels straight ,i have a friend that painted his car there and no sags but they didn't do a good job on the bodywork.

Do head studs not bolts, you'll be happy you did if you start running some boost.

This car will never see boost. And where's the best brand/place to get new head bolts?

What head gaskets do you guys recommend? The car had 95952's for the intake gaskets.

Should I get new intake bolts also? And what about VC gaskets? Thickness? Part # would just be easiest haha sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure I get all the right things.

How she sits as of now:

Dropping the heads off sometime this week to get checked out/cleaned up. I'm going to do a little bit more research and hopefully order all the new hardware sometime this week also.

Just a little update. Heads are getting dropped off tomorrow to be freshened up and should be done by Friday. I'll be pulling everything off the car that I'm going to be powder coating this weekend and hopefully making my order for my gaskets and bolts and whatnot. Hoping to have this thing done in the next 2 weeks. Not too bad considering I only get time to work on it on the weekends.
