I have 2- 9" pages bookmarked and both are not available. Grrrr.

I have a versaille 9" that is out and dissassembled. I thought it would be nice to measure it and compare sizes with a stock width axle housing so I can think about wheels. Backspacing. Etc.

So, anyone have the flange to flange width chart?

Sounds like a 65-66 width; 67-70 was 54 1/4, and 71-73 even wider. Of course you can use it with wider wheels...just makes getting the backspacing a little more difficult.

A 65-66's 9-inch rear is 57.25" flange to flange. But how is this one 52" ? Are they not measuring flange to flange?

Thanks for the responses so far.

Mine is a Versailles rear, and it is bare. It appears to be shortened, that is part of what made me post this.

Hmmmmmm. I should be able to put some pretty deep wheels in there.

Anyone have a bare Versailles rear to measure for me?

Interesting.

its 57" from axle flange to axle flange
52" from hosing end to housing end.

BTW I have 2 extra 9" third members if anyone might be interested. WAA & WAB

Not intending to jack the thread here, but on several of those sites many cars have 58" rears. Is this close enough to the 66 msutangs' 57.25" rear that it will fit with out any problems, other than maybe relocating the pirches? And also, what's the maximum width you can fit under a 66 mustang without having to narrow the rear, or anything large to that extent?

Well, with wider 67-67 rear you could run new style Mustang wheels without the spacer. Interesting concept. Of course I am not a fan of spacers.
