Last night my daughter's 90 Vert caught fire. It appears the guy I bought it from had some larger amp and when he took it out he left the power wire connected and used tape to cover it. Well needless to say this tape failed and started a fire. The battery, tray and solenoid area are toast. Looking at the wires it seems that the wires going back into the car, over the shock tower are not burned. My thinking is to get a harness from another bone yard stang from that area and splicing it in will work. Does anyone have a diagram of that area so I can check all the wiring before heading to the bone yard. Does anyone think that the ECC may be fried? She did turn the key off when the engine died. I figure that this may have shut down the power path to the ECC. Anyone know if the Airbag wiring runs there as well? On my 93 there is one sensor which has its wiring under the tray. The tray itself isn't burned just melted from the acid and a bit deformed. Any help help or information will help.

Thanks. BTW she is bummed that her Steed is hurt. To help cheer her up I went to wally mart and saw a cool flease pull over jacket with the Mustang Pony on it. She saw that and got a huge smile on her face and asked me when her pony will be fixed. She even offered to hit the boen yard to help me. GO figure!

Sorry to hear about the fire!!

If it were mine and I intended on keeping the car. I would remove the whole harness so that the new one would be all plug in with no splices. Just my 2 cents.

You could also splice/ solder and shrinkwrap too. I am not sure exactly what is burnt.

If you go to Mustang FAQ - Engine Information you can find most of the wiring diagrams with that website.

Keep in mind that the engine and dash harnesses are unique to a 90. Any harness you use MUST come from a 90 or it wont work. 89 and 91 harnesses are different.

Good Luck!!

Well my daughter closed the hood and the cable burned in the fire. How do you get to the latch in a GT?
Since there is no opening in the grille on the gts and the cable is going to have to be replaced anyhow, I would try getting to it from underneath the car (it's gonna be kind of a pita and I hope you have small hands. Cut the cable on the inside of the car, find where it runs by the drivers headlight and pull it all the way out and use plires to pull the center wire and release the hood. my .02:nice:
