Has anyone ever used the 93 Cobra comp./MAF in an AOD car???? Im having serious A9P issues and some Harness issues. I put the 93 Cobra Comp. and MAF in my AOD and drove it around for ahwile(less than a day) and did it ever WAKE UP. Needless to say i was a freinds and i had to give it back. It was alot more responsive than the A9P and 70Pro-m. I have heard rumors that the Cobra comp. will fry in my car, i need to know if thats true b-4 i spend another cent.

I’m confused as to how it "woke your car right up"? The Cobra computer is well known to be horrible performance wise. Although not as bad as the 94-95, the '93 Cobra computer pulls all kinds of fuel and timing at upper RPM. I personally think you'd be better off with your stock computer, your current 75mm and a good dyno tune. If you haven't already upgraded the 88lph stock fuel pump, that could be hurting your performance as well. I'd go with at least a 155-190lph unit.

I don't believe that the '93 Cobra computer would toast your engine though, unless maybe the extra “snap” you were experiencing was a lean condition….which in fact is very harmful to your engine.

I understand the Cobra comp. doesnt have the best programming to it. In fact i know my A9P is better, but when i switched em a ran 4 diff. cars that i have lost to b-4 and a spanked em all. I had ZERO det. and the idle surging went away.(ie woke up) I have a 190lph in there. I had it dyno'd w/a wide band and my a/f was 13.1 across the board(no chip). dont think the comp will fry my engine, what FORD in Mich. said was my car will fry the Cobra comp.

heres the deal, my car is running hot 230-250(autometer gauge) so i took it to a shop at LVMS for some elec. work. They said they had to run another ground to the comp. and it fixed it. Running 210 on a 107 day(Vegas) When i went to put the comp. back in the kick-panel ALL probs. came back 230-250 again. W/the car running if you even touch the comp. the car will die(not to mention throw codes.) Today i was at the Track working on the harness and it seams to be one pin thats causing this. So im gonna do another harness 1st. Im tired of this the engine only has 2500miles on it and ive replaced ALL sensors twice and hg's twice and it all comes back to the comp. issues.

the car can idle for days and wont get hotter than 195. As soon as i start to drive 230-250. I fig. getting a bad reading from a sensor is causeing the comp. to compensate messing with the fuel/timing curves. I have a fluidyne rad. and an permacool 2950cfm fan. yeh its hard to type up a diagnosis but your replies are good enough for me. thanks

What's the rest of your cooling system like? Maybe it's not the computer that's causing it to overheat. But maybe once it does it starts buggering things up to (pulling timing? richer fuel delivery?) save it from overheating further and causing it to throw codes and go into limp mode? Otherwise…wiring and sensor problems are a nightmare and are tough to diagnose over the internet. Wish I could help more. :(
