93 Cobra OEM offset??

Hey so I've searched and searched... what was the original offset and backspacing on the 93 Cobra's... not the R's...

I believe it was an 17x7.5" rim.. but cannot find any information regarding the original correct backspacing.. help?

I'm not sure about the backspace and offset, but I am almost positive the cars came with spacers (possibly only in the rear), which is why the wheels stick out nicely but they are only 7.5 wide. This is also why you cannot put the new replica 93 cobra wheels on an original cobra. The spacers cause problems and they will not fit correctly. This info probably did not help you at all, but I thought I would respond anyway

Are you going to get a set of originals? I think they will sit in pretty far on a regular LX or GT because they were originally used with spacers.

I might be talking out of my ass here, and I don't have my book in front of me, but I thought the Cobra used the 94's rear axle assembly, thus the wider track in the rear and the disk brake setup. I don't see why Ford would put wheel spacers on the car from the factory, but I don't know for sure.

I also thought for some reason that the Cobra wheels were 18.5 inches wide. Again, I could be wrong.

Edit: I'm retarded. The wheels were 7.5".

Negative on both counts there.

No spacers, and then did not get SN95 brakes out back.


The '93 Cobra has the same rear brake setup as the 87-88 thunderbird with 10" vented disks and 45mm calipers. The rear wheels are pushed out 0.75" each side. As a result, the front rotors have a 0.75" taller hat so that the wheels can remain rotatable.

As for the offet, i do not know this for certain.

i read the two above and though maybe i shouldn't have asked...

hehe... i have the TC set up, and my wheels sit a touch too close to the fender-lip for my liking. I already rolled the fenders, I just think they sit a little too far out. I'm running the 16x8 Discount Tire Replica Cobra R's all around with a 245/50-16 and what killed me was the Steeda Sport Springs... I just thought if I could find a set of Cobra rims that weren't 1200 a set I would pick them up, or secondarily, find out the backspacing/offset and then just match up as close as possible to that.

You are correct. I knew they were pushed out further for some reason. So no spacers, but at least I was correct about the fact that the wheels sit out further than if they were on a GT or LX.

finally... day 3 of google searching turned up something...

1993 Cobra Wheel Specs:
RH: F3ZZ-1007-A
LH: F3ZZ-1007-B
Offset = 1.61" or 40.9mm
Backspace = 5.36"
Bolt Pattern = 4 X 4.25"



So now the question is... where can i get a set of rims with enough backspacing??? (41mm-ish)
