93 Fox

Hello everyone. I just acquired a 93 4cylinder fox body that I plan on building into a mean street machine. I found a 8.8 diff assembly out of a mark vii. it has 5 lug axles and rear disc brakes. My question is will this fit the 93 fox? Thanks in advance.

The length of the rear won't be right.

The length is longer, but not by that much. I think 3/4". Mustang5L5 seems to know about the Mark Vii axle and the turbo coupe axle. He'll show up eventually!

OK, I have some experience also! The actual 8.8 housings are the same dimensions as the 86-98 Mustang housings, but they do not have provisions for the quad shock mounts which may not really matter if you are getting aftermarket control arms. Otherwise it will bolt right up.

Now the axles are 1.25" longer on each side. This is the same brake & axle setup as was in the SVO Mustangs and the later Fox bodied Saleens. They used different wheels to compensate for the longer axles. You can make it work as is, but even stock SN95 8" wide wheels will stick out of the wheel well a bit much IMO.

Now if you want to, you can run the Ranger/Aerostar Fox length axles and modify the Mark VII brackets to mount the calipers inboard the 1.25" necessary to run the shorter axles. This is the exact brake/axles setup that I have. Here is the info on the modifications:

Oh, and also, many of the Mark VII rear ends do not have traction loc as standard. They usually have 3.08 or 3.27 gears. Something to keep in mind!
