Below is my set-up.
My crate motor is no quite a year old , with only about 2000 miles on it.
My car is street legal , but mostly used for the strip. Not a daily driver.
I want to get more horse power out of it.
Any suggestions on what I could do besides a supercharger or nitrous?
I was thinking of getting it dyno-tuned?
Custom ground cam?
I know I could get the bottom end bored, but I want a winter project that I can do myself. I know I can't do the dyno tune myself!
If I did decide to supercharge it at some point, do I have to upgrade the head gaskets, or will this engine even be able to be supercharged?
I was looking at the Keene Bell 8psi.
Just thinking about what to do this winter.
Thanks

X heads they are a pretty good head for the street. I would start with a cam swap the old b-cam is a good cam but you are leaving power on the table. Those heads flow good numbers with good velocity up to .570 inches. I would put a call into Comp or ED CURTIS for something in the high 230's at .050 with .550 or so inches of lift something that favors the exhaust side. Get a tighter lobe seperation 110 center, switch that intake out for a RPM II or a Systemax and get rid of that factory air box for something less restrictive.

I seen (in person) and x headed crate engine with an S trim on it, make 485rwhp.

As for i do like x heads, their valve job from the factory is medicre to say the least. Consider having them valve jobbed, and the bowls cleaned up (should cost around 250 or less), along with a better cam, and you are talking about 25rwhp.
