I looked at a '93 Vert 5.0 5 speed, wouldnt that be an LX model? It was listed as a GT... Anyway the car is nice, runs good, sounds killer.. it has shortys and off road h and sounded like flows. My only doubts about the car is that the top moves a little slow and my freind said the motor was 900 bucks, and one headlight assembly needs to be replaced, the pass. side 1/4 window rolls down but needs help up, and whoever had it put a huge system in the trunk, wich i'd rip out cause it probaly weighs 200 lbs. What do these verts run stock in the 1/4 mile?

You can get the top motor and cylinders for much less than $900.00 from ebay. In fact, I bough a motor and both cylinders for around $100 from one of our fellow stangnet members. My top works great now.

As for 1/4 mile times stock, I can't help ya.

The car can be a GT, they came like that. You cant really guess times until you are sure. I would think a GT vert with a 5 speed would run low 15's to high 14's with being able to drive. An Lx would be slightly faster.

Maybe, maybe not. If it had the factory ground effects it was a GT. LX had no ground effects. This is as basic as you can get. Before you buy anything, you better do some research and learn a bit about what you are buying before you lay out some cash.

No ground effects, I havnt noticed a 'vert GT before though.. To tell you the honest truth I've never considered a 'vert before, thats why I wasnt sure.. I know a ton about these cars for not even owning one yet, not to sound cocky but I dont want to come off as a dumbass, lol.

When I got my '90 GT 'vert it was as stock as they come. I took it to the track and ran it to a series of very disappointing 15.7's and 15.8's. 60 foot's were in the area of 2.15ish, normal for a stock Mustang with an average driver. My car had the optional 3.08's too.

Look in my garage. GT convertible.

Yep. I've got a GT vert too. As far as that motor for the top. I thought I was going to have to replace that since my top was just creeping up. Turns out all I had to do was add some PS fluid to it and it was like new! 1.99 beats the heck out of $900 bucks any day(unless its goin in my pocket!) Give that a shot first :nice:

Also the top motor from a 1966 convertible will bolt onto the the factory pump. I watched a friend of mine do it and his top didn't work before and worked perfect after. You may have to wire the new style electric plug, but it bolts up. They haven't changed the pump motor since then.

I don't think they changed the pump or the cylinders from 66 on up until the 1999 model year. But I could be totally wrong.

You could try filling up the top with fluid first. Mine works like a champ after that now.

Actually a top motor from a 65 ford will fit in a 93 mustang. I know I had to rob the one out of the 65 vert for my 93.

Now back on topic. I would top off the fluid and if that doesn't work I would take the motor apart and clean the brushes and contacts. New motors are around 200 bucks I believe. My passenger quarter window needs help rolling up as well so don't feel alone. I am too lazy to get in there and see what the prob is.

Here is my 93 GT vert
