A buddy is selling the 5.0 HO motor out of his 94 GT for 600 bucks. It has 140k miles on but still runs strong, doesnt burn oil or leak. I dont know much about the 5.0s' and the HO motors so i'm hoping u guys can help out. I'd put it in my 65 coupe. Are there better options I should look out for? I do plan on building it up but probably only 400ish hp.
Thanks guys.

Not really I had it listed several times. High mileage but ran fine, clean under the VC's etc.

Mind you this is just a long block with no front accessories.

Hmm. Last year I sold a complete 95 engine for 1k $. If it doesn't have any of the wiring or brackets/accessories that make it a "94/95" engine, then it's just like any other late model 5.0, which are a dime a dozen in any scrap yard. It's the uniqueness of the engines in our cars that make them so valuable.

If you are putting this in a 1965 and don't need the unique 94-95 mustang parts....look into a 1997+ ford explorer/mountaineer engine. They can be had cheaper than $600 (usually around $300-400) and come with gt-40p heads, and a cobra-line upper intake manifold.

Are you keeping it car bed? Or converting to efi?

The explorer motor is more similar to the 93-95 cobra engine, but if you are gonna build it up, then most parts will probably be replaced anyway? If so, buy a $100 5.0 roller long block....dime a dozen at boneyards.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

It's not a bad price, but it might not be worth the hassle for a 65' stang. The timing cover and stuff will have to be changed at least to work with a V-belt or a more traditional water pump. I sold my short block a few years ago for $300. The guy tore it apart to make a stroker engine, and was having trouble locating a block.

Adam, you are just like me. I can't sell a damn thing to anyone. If I put my Canfields up for sale tomorrow I doubt I could get $100 for them. Whenever I change up a performance part, I'm always stuck with the old.

Ive made a fair share of money flipping parts... My entire build was mainly paid for by picking up parts on the cheap and playing the market... But that being said i have tons of crap im stuck with... Me and chris just decided to start collecting parts because hes working on a different mustang every week. Thats why my car had to move. Hes awesome at what he does. I know enough to get by.

But seriously i had it listed for $50 at one point but decided its worth keeping at that price.

But i sold the stock intake manifold to someone for $70 who claimed it made more power then manifold x etc. etc... (picked it over a trickflow street) i told him no... i didnt even want to sell it separate i wanted $100 for the motor so i listed at $200... So i told him i wanted $100 for the manifold. He bit... but then gave me $70 and tried to drive off... So i called him out on it and he said he had no more money.

but i thought i had ripped him off already

I plan on sticking with EFI. Tired of carb issues and fuel bowl slosh when turning hard. Ill take ur advice and look into the explorer 5.0s.. I didnt know they at the gt40s. I do plan on building it up some. not necessarily full rebuild from crank up thou..
