Maybe this isn't even specifically my brakes, but I have a repeating scraping noise coming from the passenger side that I only hear when it has something to echo off of, like a curb or a wall. Over the last month I've replaced the roters and pads, so I know they're good. Does anyone have any ideas for what might cause this? I have to say though, the brakes on this car really seem to suck. This is the first car I've owned that I can't lock the brakes up on unless it's wet out. Seems odd for 4 wheel discs, but I'll probably upgrade to cobras in the future.

Have you done a good inspection of the offending area to look for any signs of rubbing or something loose? I had a similar experience awhile back and it was the id plate on the back of my brake pads hitting the rotor. The glue holding it on had come loose and it had slid out. I just pulled them off and tossed them in the trash.

This might have something to do with the fact that you have 4-wheel ABS. If you could lock up the brakes, then the anti-lock system would be broken!

Like said above, you need to examine the components. Check the rotor, and see if it's baby smooth. Run your fingernail from the inside to the outside. if you feel any imperfections, the rotor needs to be turned.

Can you describe the noise a little more? Is it brake squeal, or a moaning, or what?

Take the wheel off, and turn the wheel hub. See if you hear the sound.
