94 gt headers

i wanna look into a set of headers for my gt it currently has no cats and an h pipe with flowmasters. is there a set of headers availble that i would not have to do any extra fitting to the rest of my exst just a direct swap, and will replacinging the stockers make a noticeable improvement in performance? if anyone would happen to have an set laying around i may be interested in them. thanks Ethan

ya there are plenty available bbk,flotech,hooker,summit&jegs brands and many more...you will be looking for the shorty headers made by these companies the come in equal and unequal lengths...there fairly easy to install and i noyiced a difference when i installed my shorty headers....

ive looked around at most of those headers i was thinking about an equal length header. is going with an equal lenght goin to give me more performance than unequal and has anyone installed equal lenght headers on a 94 are there any clearence issues thanks for the replys

J/K, but really .... the search function on this site is awesome & can reveal a ton of information. With that said, my preference (on shorty headers) is un-equal length. They're easier to install. Sometimes cheaper. Don't burn plug wires. And the small HP gain that the E's have over the UE's does not justify getting them, IMHO.

SeventyMach1 has it right. I got mine from Mac, really cheap had a shop install them. I think they are leaking now but so is my h-pipe since the t56 swap. I am looking to do things over. I have lots of heat from my engine which I know is indirecly responsable for some of my cars problemss. I am looking into getting new exhaust parts and they all start with ceramic coated headers-no matter what type I end up going for/being able to afford. I skimped on the exaust, I've paid for it with the heat from my engine bay- i think it killed my stock distributer but getting a new one was sweet what a difference!

All in all I wish I had the Money to do it right the first time. I went all out but on the cheap end with Mac unequal hd treated? shorties an o/r h-pipe and chokemasters. Suck it up and get some good parts or you will be buying them a second time around like myself.

If you are stock or close to stock ................

The gain from shortys ... if noticable ... will be subtle.

I agree with regular shortys over unequal.

however

Before you buy anything ... Think about your long term plans.

If you have ANY plans other than a bolt on or two ..............

You want LT's

Even if you are stock at this time ............

LT's will give you a NOTICABLE gain over shorty's.

You'll need a different mid pipe with LT's

but

LT's are the ONLY exhaust mod that deliver a gain where the focus is on performance ...NOT ... how do they sound

IMHO ... ALL other exhaust mods give more sound than performance ... not that its a bad thing

Equal lengths aren't worth the pain in my opinion if you aren't going for every 0.5hp out of your car.

It is also a pain to change the plugs on.

I have MAC ceramic shorties on my car and have had no issues with sealing. You just have to move them into place when you screw them in and line up the holes.

I used a mirror and looked through the bolt holes through the header. When it was lined up I just bolted them in. Easy as that.

thanks for the replys that helps alot i think may go for some unequals cause its a pain to change plugs with stock headers as it is. has anyone messed around with the heat wrap?

if you are doing headers do it right the first time and get some ceramic longtubes. $500 on the ceramic shorties and h-pipe then $700 on the longtubes and prochamber is how i went. save the money and do it the right way the first time.
