Definitely should fight it. If he had a camara (most do now) it will have recorded what he said. I drive a truck for a living and have had good luck with traffic violation specific attorneys keeping my driving record clean. Most of them work cheaply and will appear in court so you don't have to miss any school. I picked most of mine out of the ads they run in magazines and papers found in most truck stops.

im thinking about fighting it. I cant afford 6 points on my license. Ive never even been looked at twice on the highway. The thing is, i gotta get the balls to call my mom and tell her. No matter what i say, shes gonna yell at me forever. ive got to figure this out. if i go to court and say that it was another car almost identical to mine, theyll charge me like a felon. i dont know what to do. im stressed out enough as it is.

Trust me man, hire the lawyer. I used to have an Acura that I flipped one day on a dirt road, I got a ticket for exceeding a safe speed for conditions, that would have been $125 plus 4 insurance points, I went to my local "get you out of anything" lawyer, he charged me $150, and I got it dropped. It may have been $25 more than the ticket, but it saved me 5 years worth of extra insurance! and he went to court for me, all I had to do was talk to him, and pay him, and he did the rest. Its welllllll worth it

Everyone here has pretty much given the advice, so I'll just offer this.

1. I hope you win, this guy was obviously a dick and if you stick it to him, that would be awesome

2. Even if you don't win, hold your head up high man.

That's pretty much all I can say, good luck bro.

I was just wondering if this is your first ticket. Because if it is, north carolina has the PJC, or prayer for judgement continuence, and also, nc will drop most first offenses to 9 over if you talk to the DA. When i got my very first ticket, i had it dropped from 77/55 to 64/55 and my insurance did not charge me for it, because it was my first. Just don't do it again.. However, i would fight this, because you really weren't in the wrong.

Good choice to fight it.

Always keep in mind.....young guy + sports car = easy target for tickets.

P.S. I got a speeding ticket last week.

Every lawyer that i have ever known gives free consultations. I broke out my phone book last ticket I got and did "over-the-phone" consultations with every lawyer that handled traffic cases. After listening to what every lawyer said they could potentially do for me, I picked the best sounding and most professionally sounding lawyer that seemed to have his head screwed on straight and seemed to know the judge well. Once I picked one I sat down with him one on one for a "face-to-face" consultation and he listened to my full story and gave his assessment. Once I knew the guy was seriously able to help me I then commited to employing his services. Need to get the best for your money and not some guy that does the same thing for everybody and takes your money. Needs to be able to be sympathetic and willing help you specifically cuz every story is different and he needs to actually take the time to build a case on that cop. Hope it helps man Good luck

I've even had a lawyer drop a ticket down to Improper Equipment which is zero points on the license. What the hell is Improper Equipment anyhow?

Improper equipment would be for a broken speedometer, or something on the car that just isn't up to snuff, such as windshields, exhaust and so forth. I know it's NC's way of saying "HEY, your car sucks, get it fixed."
