so, I rebuilt my 95 cobra engine, now a 306. the original 351 HO camshaft was not in good shape and I was unable to sort a replacement. I did have a spare E303 laying around so I put that in and wired the sparkplugs for a 302 firing order. the car now pops and is down on power so I am assuming the ECU and the camshaft are not communicating. I see two options, replace the camshaft with a 351W roller or replace the cobra ECU with a 93 cobra ECU that I have. am I on the right track here?

Has your engine been replaced before? A 95 Cobra came with a 302, not a 351 unless it's a R model. Also the roller 351 and 302 have the same firing order and camshaft. So if you swapped the plug wires around your firing order is off so that's why it's popping and doesn't have any power.

Also I will add that when changing engines sometimes the ground wires get left off or not reconnected properly so check your grounds,

Did you check PTV clearance and measure for proper pushrod length? What valve springs are you running?

Also remember the HO firing order is the same as the 351.... 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
