95 GT -vs- 98 Cobra

96-98 cobras have are 4valves?

are these the same 4valves that are in the 03/04 mach1's and cobras (no blower, of course)?

no they have a different version of the 4 valve heads on them. The Mach 1 motor is closer to a 99/01 cobra motor, while the 03/04 cobra motor is a different beast upon to itself.

ALL 96+ cobras have 4valves

96-98=B heads and intake, all alluminum teskid block ("unbreakable") and heads, heads designed for high RPMs and booooooost
forged Crank also

99=C heads and intake, some had good Teskid blocks from leftover 98's, heads/intake are better, especially in the lowend power
01=Same as 99 except the block isn't Teskid

03/04=Iron block, modified C heads, C lower intake, and obvioulsy a Eaton on top
All forged internals (obviously)

03/04 mach=C heads/intake, higher compression ratio than cobra

the B heads will NOT fit a C intake, and C heads wont fit B intake, etc

ur saying a 98 cobra will gain about 25rwhp by adding fullexhaust :bs: my buddys 02WS6 only gained 12rwhp and 12rwtq.
that is pathetic

going from stock exhaust to long tubes and full exhaust can add 30-40 on an ls1

most cars with lid and full exhaust put down 340-350s some in the 360s depending on what other boltons.

an 02-04 z06 with intake long tubes and x pipe and stock catback will generally put down 390 at the wheels

Long tubes are big on the 4valve, will take it to at least high 280s-300

I cant believe all these people in here are calling 98 cobras slow. your car stock ran high 14s-15s for god sakes and you can mod a cobra too:shrug:

since he is replacing his motor, help him out with decision, he should get a mach 1 crate motor. they sell them used for a descent price.

with his current motors and a mach 1 long block popped in, he should trap 108-112

I agree with snoozer. They are quick.

those defending the 94-97 cobras, in 98 ford changed the suspension set up and with new tires the 98 had i crap load better traction than the previous years. i know this because my cuz workd at ford in dearborn at the time, he's now plant manager at the kansas facility, then my uncle had a 98 cobra and it took a heck of a lot to spin em.

sooo maybe these other 96 and 97 cobras were close races because of traction issues and drivers.

98 cobras a " *****badass "

i dont understand why the 95 should definitely win

power is very similar

the cobra has an all aluminum motor.

though gearing is not stated on the cobra. with 4.30s it will be interesting stop or roll

i am guessing the 95 car might still be dynoing 281, and torque will be low because of the track heat and Ecam. he originally dynoed like 290/305 and then had problems and had to get a retune

Part in bold...since he stated all of the other modifications, I don't see why he'd leave out gears.

With stock gears, the Cobra won't win. As I said earlier, with 4.10s or better it'd be a driver's race.

IIRC, the z06's arent an LS1. its an LS6. buddys 02 Ws6 M6 put down 321/331(12.99@109) with only a lid. With LTs, o/r y pipe, hooker catback it went to 336/348(12.88@111) and with a 125 dry shot it went to 428/504(11.8@120) All on street tires. Thats a 15/17 increase with is about normal!!!!!!!!

Id still say its pretty low. Friends of mine with ls1's are in the 345-355 range with exhuast and lid.. But dyno's and dyno conditions do vary.

Anyways this really doesnt mean jack shhit since the thread is a bout a 98 cobra with exhuast.
