95GT MAF on a 91 Notch... Q's?

So I got a 95GT MAF (Thanks Urban96) and im polishing it before I put it on my car. my question is, can I remove that huge restriction looking peice? as long as I leave the tube that the MAF sensor is in alone I should be fine right? can anyone tell me?

If you remove the post, you will change the airflow characteristics. That will change the airflow past the sensor element and change the MAF calibration.
