95GT Vortec S trim Installation Questions

Hello Group

After my numerous post and realization of my budget I figured that the best 2 bangs for buck will be a numerically higher gear and a choice of used Vortec S trim superchargers to get more umph. I have been getting quotes for installation and I have heard from low of $400 (my buddies shop quote) to a high of $800 from a local speed shop. What is the difficulty level and how many hours should it take a prof shop compared to what it might take for a weekend wrench.

Thanks

the hardest part of the install is tapping the oil pan and even that isn't hard. a vortech install is not a difficult install by any means for a shade tree mechanic. i wouldn't waste the 400 on install. i would just use that money towards some better fittings and lines for the oil connections and a case of beer.

a friend and I did my Paxton install ( same as the Vortech) taking our time and did it in about 8-12 hrs. I just kept my car at his place and we picked away at it. Its really not that hard at all. Tapping the pan is not to bad just take your time and use lots of grease to catch the shavings.
