Hello

Does this hood give you little more clearance? I am going to put performer RPM II newer version intake and wondering if this hood will clear.

Let me know fellas

Thanks

i have a 96-98 cobra hood on mine. i also have a 351. it has fox accessories and the AC compressor is where the PS pump is on the SN95s. we had to notch the inside of the hood at the edge of the compressor to get it to close.

but i also have an aftermarket k-member that is supposed to drop the motor about 3/4".

will an RPM II intake fit on your 302 with a stock k-member and a 96-98 cobra hood?

i have no idea. mine is so far from stock that it is pretty much impossible to answer fitment questions for other folks. sorry

that said, i think the 96-98 cobra hood does give a little more clearance

I do however have energy suspension engine mounts installed, I heard these are lower then stock mounts, And another question is, does aftermarket cobra hood same as OEM unit? they look identical, how are the fitment?

I am getting AJE K-Member in couple weeks so i am starting to collect parts here and there so i will be ready to install all at the same time

Let me know if anyone know the difference and clearance of the hood.

Thanks
L

my k-member is AJE as well. i am now fairly confident it will fit under a cobra hood. did you order the k-member with any drop? if you are doing rockers, i recommend comp magnums ... they fit under stock height valve covers. stock height VCs means you don't need a spacer, which means the intake sits lower, which helps with hood clearance.

i have always assumed my hood is oem, but now that you mention it, i am not 100% sure. it was on my 1996 gt when i bought it, and i swapped it over to the 95 when i bought that.

What drop is that? When i ordered it anthony did not mention anything about the drop, The newer style k member is all 1 style and you just change the mounts on it, However i did order the ones with extra bracing.

I am using crane rockers with trick flow valve covers, I had to use the taller valve covers, Do you have the OEM cobra hood for sale?

Thanks
L

you know, i couldn't say for sure because originally, i had one of the older style aje k-members before they re-designed them. they had an option for dropping it back then. fast forward to a year ago when my k-member was bent by my son going over the curb in it and i needed a new k-member. i called aje again and told them that i needed a replacement and that my original had a 3/4" drop and they said, "ok, we'll send you a new one". the new one was very different from the old one, and with it, my mechanic did have to notch the hood where it was now hitting (it didn't hit with the old one), so either there was less of a drop, or the engine was not as far back as before.

you might check into the comp magnum rockers, i am pretty sure they fit under most stock height valve covers. i know for sure that they fit under mine.

and no, my cobra hood is not for sale, sorry. i love it too much.
