'96-'98 Cobra Hood on a 5.0 SN95, Will it Fit?

Will a 1996-1998 Cobra hood (with the two nostrils) fit on a 5.0 equipped SN95? I have read that they went to this hood to clear the 4.6 4V’s intake, but I think the bulge is mostly in the center and the 5.0 GT40 intake is fairly broad. If it does work, is there enough space to add a 1” spacer between the upper and lower plenums of a GT40 intake?

Yes. I have seen the 96/98 Cobra hood on a lot of 94/95 stangs and have been told that it was a direct replacement. As far as fitment with intakes, I'm not sure, but there is supposed to be more room.

zzskyzz - that is an awesome looking vert. I've got the same color, but not quite that quality, as I need to replace the bumpers and hood. Is that the stock paint or have you had it repainted?

Back on topic..........I'd vote for that hood on just about any color of 94/95 stang.

I doubt if any fit issues with this swap!

I love those hoods and if I was going Fobra it would be the very first piece I'd swap. I'm not a huge fan of the stock GT hood and don't want a cowl hood or anything fancy so I'm stuck. I dig the sleeper look anyhow

Nope, it's not the original paint. There's been a lot of body work into that car. When I first purchased it the trans was shot [4th gear didn't work -- AODE], the rag top was torn to shreds, and the paint was horrible. My father worked for porsche in the past [painting cars] then owned his own body shop when he was younger so he helped me a lot with the bodywork and paint. It was then painted with PPG paint after the bodywork.

2 weeks after the paintjob it was then coated with megiuers professional series paint cleaner, polish, and wax.

No, the hood and bumper were NOT new. Sadly I was young and was getting 7.50/hr so I couldn't afford new stuff. When I got the hood it looked like a rake was dragged across it.. Some bondo work and a lot of elbow grease made it look how it does now.




But when doing your car, remember this.. Painting it is the easy part, all the painter has to do is put on an even coat of primer and paint it.

The body work is a PITA because this is what you're painting, it all has to be smooth and willing to take paint before it's even painted. You can paint a piece of **** if you want....

Thanks for all of the input. I've debating between a Cobra R or the '96 Cobra hood. The R hood is cool, but it seems like it would cheaper to find a Cobra hood instead.
