im sure this is been posted before but havent seen anything on it.
when I do my PI swap on my 96 , directions say to use 99+ alternator bracket , does this mean i need to get a 99+ alternator? i know they bolt from top and my 96 i believe is 1 bolt from the middle. Id hate to buy a 99+ alt. since i just got a sweet 200amp powermaster polished alt for the 96. please tell me the bracket works on both year alternators

Im not 100% but I believe you can use a pre 99 bracket and drill new holes to make it work. Also the 98 bracket works.

I reused my 96' bracket, but you can only drill one hole on the left if I remember. I would have to pop the hood. I have been looking for the correct one ever since I did my full PI motor swap. I ran it with just the one bolt in the alt for a long time.

Not sure on this but unless your converting to COPS the post 99' bracket wont have the provisions to hang your plug wires.

I just completed my PI swap last month on my 96 GT convertible. I used the 99+ bracket and the 96 alternator that was on the car already. It worked just fine. Good luck with the swap. Just take your time with it and make sure you time the car right and be patient when doing it. You will be VERY pleased with the additional power.:nice:
