I'm having some trouble with my 96 Cobra. I can turn my car on but it will not turn off, to turn it off I have to kill it and then disconnect the battery so it doesn't die. When I turn the key to the off position nothing happens, I can completely remove the key and the car will still stay on. I was thinking it might be the electronic switch in the steering column, thats the only thing I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas on what else it could be, or how to go about fixing it? Also would it be possible to just put a kill switch in inline with the ignition wire so I don't have to disconnect the battery every time until I can fix it right, and does anyone know what wire that might be? This cars been nothing but a pain in my ass, if anyone wants to buy it I'm selling it for $5500 and live in central Missouri.

The problem with your kill switch idea is there are 5 gangs in the ignition switch. IMO, by time you figure out how to "hack it", you would wish you handn't thought of the idea. On top of that, you would be left with a non standard hack job.
Try going to a salvage yard for a relacement. Search car-part.com. The electronic part of the switch is not difficult to switch. The key tumbler is easy to remove and does not require the services of a lock smith.
