96 GT heater core TSB

From alldata I got this
01-15-6 AUG 01 Heater Core - Repeated Failure
My 96 gt has this TSB out..jsut so happens my heater core is leaking (coolant on windshield but not floors as of yet) and I am needing to replace it..wether I try and do it myself or I pay someone to do it will this affect me? I dont want to go through all of this jsut to have it start leaking again over and over..is the dealership required to fix this TSB at no cost or what? I jsut really need to know my options..Thanks guys

TSB is just that a TSB (tech service bulletin). It's out there to identify an issue and a recommended fix. TSBs are not a recall and the dealership would charge you for the fix - just use the TSB to help them repair the (common) problem your seeing.

I've always had TSB's performed free of charge. Such as the intake TSB, the parking brake TSB, and a couple others. Actually, they went down the list when I took it in for the intake.

Did you have to give them hell or anything to get them to do it? How long ago was this (car still under warranty?) Becuase I still have the old Intake that needs to be changed and not to mention the heater core is bad as we speak so it would be nice to get it replaced free..as for parking brake i dont know of any problems as of yet...

On your '68 Mustang??? When did you have these repairs done?

As mentioned already, TSB are nothing more than helpful service tips. They are not recalls nor are they hidden warranties.

However, I think that the parking brake TSB supported a separate safety recall on the parking brake. Then that would be fixed for free, not because of the TSB, but because of the recall.
