96+ guys in NY remember the new inspection laws are coming....

sorry if this is a repost, i just figured you guys would want to know...the new inspection laws are mandated to take affect in NY by the first of the year.....the new testing is a computer scan that involves a direct connection between your OBD II ecu and the DM mainframe. the test will be conducted by this computer real time. If you fail your car will be unregesterable....this only effects cars that are 96+(OBDII) so you might want to find out from who does you inspections and get one done before this is implemented so you have a year to figure out what your going to do if you have disabled any of the emmisions controll devices....

i dont believe so....ive seen nothing about CARB parts...and i doubt that will happen(especially since CARB stands for California Air Research Board).

i do realize that, however your test sounds like the CA test, except we put the cars on a dyno and there are rumors that the CARB regulations will be required nationwide when OBD3 rolls around.

it may eventually happen, but NYS hasnt said anything about it to my knowledge just the 96+ cars(OBDII) will have to go through this test...no word on an actual sniffer tet for the cars as of yet which is a plus...im just glad my 94 GT isnt covered under this new deal....but i wanted to make sure you modular guys are aware this is happening

so whats the deal? This new test will screw you if you have like MIL plugs because of an o/r x-pipe? I took the cats off my stock h-pipe...but i still got them in my garage....i guess in about 9 months i should put those bad boys back on just for the inspection.

its gonna scan your ecu...and it will check for any codes that have recently been reset...so like disconnecting the battery to reset codes, then going to get inspected still wont work....

I live in NYC and as soon as the low is in effect...... some russian mechanic will have found a way to have you pass the emition for 15$ more

Gotta Love NC. I used to live on Long Island and emission laws suck.
Most of todays cars would pass emisions with NO cats.

That's good to know. Thanks. I installed my X pipe w/cats only to find out later, in my county they weren't necessary so I've been kicking myself. Now, I guess it's not such a bad thing.
