97 351w swap over heating.water pump question

just got it.has a 351w and over heats.the water pump in it is ford A-01 ph-577.any one know if its a clockwise or counter clock wise rotation.mine has to be counter clockwise.is there any way to tell by looking at it or any other way?

From what car did the motor come from?

Have you confirmed that the cooling fans are running?

What have you done to confirm there is no air trapped inside the motor?

How quickly does it overheat?

If you pinch the top radiator hose, can you feel if any coolant is flowing?

my opinion 351w always overheat i have one in my 82 it gets warm all the time even with a good water pump. any other 351w i have worked with do the same thing

get a 4 core radiator and delete your bottle. my friend did this to his mustang with the 5.4 swap. took care of his overheating probs. if not replace you thermostate and check all your lines for leaks and like wmburns said pinch the line to see if you have water flow. check to see if your fan works and if all else fails try flushing it all out for anything that could be blocking it.
