Hey everyone, I just joined here today. I have been a member at allfordmustangs.com for years though, but have decided to join a new forum for some more perspectives and opinions. I set up my profile so you all know what my car is and mods but for now I will just list. ( also, just so you all know my only plans for the car is to keep it as my daily driver, but I want it to be a very quick daily driver)

1997 Ford Mustang GT (auto) Woodward Dream Cruise Edition

- Borla X-pipe Side Exhaust w/ Flowmaster Mufflers

- BBK Cold Air Intake

- Ford Racing 4.10s

- Holley Fuel Pump & BBK Fuel Pressure Regulator

- Auto Transmission Shift Kit w/ Cooler

- Bullitt Suspension Kit (shocks, struts, springs & swaybars)

- MM Rear lower control Arms

- MM Caster Camber Plates

- Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance Tires

- SCT Custom Tune

Ok, now that you know what I have, I have a couple questions. I dont have a ton of mechanical knowledge but Im learning as I go. I have done a lot of research on doing the PI Swap and have asked alot of questions on other forums as well as researching here.

I am considering beginning the swap but I am wondering about the order of installations.
What I was thinking of doing is to get the PI intake installed first.

Then once I save up the necessary funds to buy the PI heads and Cams and installation costs I will do those next. Is it ok to do this in this order? Also, I have heard from another guy on another message board that replacing the npi heads with pi heads is not a must and that it will only give you around 5-10hp. Is this the general consensus here as well or are there real benefits to replacing npi heads with Pi? Thanks for the help!

PI heads flow 15cfm more intake and the same exhaust. It raises the compression about just over one full point, and this is where you get at least half the power increase. 5-10rwhp is prolly a wise guess. In my opinion it's not worth it unless the PI heads are something special over stock ones.
Myself, mine flow a tiny bit better than stock and have bronze valve guides with beehive springs - so that makes it worth it when replacing heads that have 110k miles on them with those.
But i would just get a PI intake manifold, used compcam 268H cams, and Long tubes. You'd be a good deal quicker than a regular PI swaped car, with no extensive mechanical knowledge needed and less labor (although LT's take a good deal of effort).

Thanks for the help, I have just recently checked out the classifieds here and didnt find the cams you are talking about, are there some more classifieds sites you know of that may have them?

Also I noticed you signature says you have PI cams for sale , how many miles are on them and are they still for sale?

I'll take the classified (my cams) aspect to pm's as you should do in the future.

But as for comp cam 268H cams, they have sold for a good deal cheaper than PI cams like compcam 262AH's and VT stage 1's lately. Saw a pair go for $280 recently. It's a good mild cam with some idle lope that's designed for NPI heads given it's .500" lift yet longer duration. try corral.net or ebay.com
