@97stang281 hey bud I just did that swap.. I used a motor out of a 2001 Lincoln town car.. same motor as the stangs but they had a much easier life.. no dogging on them. only thing I had to address was the intake it had the plastic coolant passage in the front. Also, you'll also need to modify the brackets for your coil packs unless you plan on converting to coil-on, and the front timing cover uses a different tensioner and belt routing than your 97. if you simply add a ribbed idler pulley to the pass. side of the motor and run a pi stang motor belt routing. you got ne questions just email me.
2002blgt you can write programs for SCT I take it? Can you write a program for turbo setup if i give you all the info on my car? The closest dyno tuner to me is an hour and a half away.
I just put a 2002 4.6 PI engine into my 1997 GT. It is actually a good and fast swap. You can drive it around just fine without even having a tune. The PI engine is a vast improvement over the NPI engine. But do not expect a 13 sec car until you have it tuned.
My Stangs stock 1997 computer tune is what I'm running with my P.I. swap with a host of mods and it runs great. Fix'n to go turbo on my car then I will get a tune. eewwahaha< evil laugh
