98 GT - MAC h-pipe rubs transmission support??

Ok, guess I'm not a nancy-boy after all. I finally got my stock mid-pipe out and installed the new MAC O/R h-pipe on my '98 GT Conv.

I noticed when I turn corners and let the clutch out, it feels like something is hitting the undercarriage of the car. I can only feel it through the floorboard. I looked under the car and noticed the mid-pipe is very close to the trans support on the drivers side. I am about 95% sure this is where I am feeling this.

I have tried moving everything around a bit, but I have it as far away as possible (only about 1/4"). Any ideas?

Also, my rubber exhaust hangers are stretched pretty good on this new mid-pipe. Is this going to be a problem? Everything feels like it's in quite a bind (really tight), but I tried loosening and moving stuff around and I have it at the best point possible.

I had to apply quite a bit of upward pressure to the right side downtube just to get it high enough to fit the hanger. It does just used the stock rubber between the mid-pipe hanger and the stock hanger right?

Oh well, any assurances would be greatful!

Well, I have decided to take it to the Muffler shop. I just don't think things are fitting correctly. I am going to Tuffy's tommorrow at noon and have them look at it. If I had a torch, welder and a lift, I think I could easily do it.

I think it just needs the hangers cut off and rewelded a bit higher on the mid-pipe. Plus the driver's side rear muffler hanger needs re-positioned also.

I am hoping they can do this fairly quick as I will be taking it in on my lunch hour.

Well, took it in to Tuffy's and they wouldn't touch it. I guess they can get in big trouble for touching a car without cats (Sounds like I can too). I don't blame them there.

The manager told me I need to be careful because removing the cats requires the car to be tuned for it to run properly. Will I damage my engine if I don't do this?

Anyways, looks like I am going to have to fix this myself. Anyone know where I can get some longer rubber connectors for the exhaust hangers? It is those rubber blocks that connect the mid-pipe to the hanger off the tranny mount. If I can find some of those about 1/2" longer I will be doing good.

Oh yeah, did I mention this thing sounds awesome!! It's loud, but it sounds mean! Too bad it's a slow '98 Conv. Sounds like it's hauling @ss, but it's not really going anywhere.
