i have a friend who has a 98 gt..i don't know much bout the mod motor'ed stangs, since i have a 5.0..but we got into a discussion and he claims that his 98 Gt came standard with a Limited Slip Differential and 3.27 gears..he also says that the heads on his car are very similar to the PI heads..well..from what i've learned on my 5.0, the gears varied..they did not all come with the same gears. i just wanna know what is true n what isn't..get back @ me!

oh by the way, he hasn't swapped gears, nor made any attempt at first hand checkin what gears he had..he's simply going by edmunds.com on all his information..

Mine came with limited slip and 3.27 with the 16in wheel option so maybe it is true. Heads are the same 96-98. The 98 however is rated at 225.

The 96-97 were rated at 215...98's at 225 but not even close to being "close" to PI heads.

My 96 had limited slip with 3.27's also. It was an option...most had 2.73's unless you had an auto then they had 3.08's.

mine came with 3.27s and limited slip also. 98s had a bastered fuel year with a little more aggresive tune. same heads and cam as 96-97

All V8 Mustangs have had limited slip diff since 1986.

As for gearing, they come standard with 2.73's.
5-spds coule get optional 3.08's and AOD(E)'s could get 3.27's.

That was 86-98. In 99 they all got 3.27's.

Oh the heads are not PI heads. They are NPI heads. There are differences.
