My friend has a 1998 GT with a coolant leak. The leak appears to stem from a crack in the housing where the heater inlet/outlet tubes connect to the engine(not the firewall). I have looked through my manuals and cannot identify this part. Does anyone have an idea of what this part is? It looks fairly easy to replace.

He should be recieving a letter in the mail about the proposed settlement soon. I just got one the other day.

In the mean time, he needs to install a new intake manifold. He should get reimbursed for the work.

So.... there is no separate housing where these tubes come back into the intake? It's all part of the intake?

Just asking because it seems like everyone else is finding cracks near the front of the engine. But, if it's all plastic/composeit guess it wouldn't really matter where it is.

Boo! Why didn't they just recall these????? Looks like it applies to other Ford cars too.

they did a 'silent recall'. anyways, there are tons of npi intakes w/ aluminum crossover's out there for sale for real cheap. or if your friend wants some extra hp this is the best time and reason for a pi intake swap. only thing is you won't get reimbursed for it.
