I would like to change out my intake for the improved aluminum crossover version. Ihave 91k on my clock and the intake has yet to bust, but I am sick of always worrying about it. While I am doing this project, I figured it would be wise to change out a bunch of other things while I have the top of the block all apart. Therefore, I have been compiling a list of parts that should be replaced. So far I have a list including:

-Intake Manifold
-Intake Manifold Gasket Set
-Water Pump Mounting Gasket
-Water Pump
-Fuel Injector O-Ring Set
-Thermostat
-Thermostat Seal

Have I left anything out? A lot of the write-ups online that I have been using to gather the parts have been for an NPI to PI swap. There are a lot of parts that the NPI owners need to get that I already have like the heater hose in valley of block and the water pump nipple. Do you think it would be a good idea to replace those too? I dont know how they fare over time.

Thanks for any help. Ill be making a writeup with better pictures than I have seen in other write-ups when i finally do the project that will include this list (with the part numbers as well).

Thanks again!

yep read

a shop vac , I did the job about 2 years ago , came out nice bought a new intake on e-bay it had the gaskets already mounted in the manifold , plugged the the heads , then when heads were cleaned to a mirror shine I removed the plugs & vacumed the engine with the shop vac it sucked up all kinds of muck , used distilled water & good antifreeze mixed 50-50 ..... never looked back & was glad as Ford wouldnt help out ...... they wanted lots of $$$$$$$$$ $700 for the manifold & lots more per hour $$$$$$$$ .... my cost beer & sanwiches & like $175 for manifold .......

excellent post. i searched but didnt look back that far :nice:

thanks a ton!:)

the problem i am having is that, since i HAVE a PI car already i am not too sure what all i need since the writeups i have found are for converting an npi to pi. a lot will be the same but i dont want to buy something i dont need.

a little update:

I ended up purchasing the intake off of AM. $194 shipped to my door in ONE DAY (I chose Std. 1-3 Day UPS Ground) It came in a nice Ford Racing box :D

I have to still pick up odds and ends like an Injector Seal kit (o-rings and new pintile caps [NAPA]) and of course gaskets, and a new thermostat.

FOR THE 99-04 Crowd:
Are there any of you that have reused the old alternator bracket? It is my understanding that you can reuse it, you just have to drill two new holes. I am wondering if anyone has a picture of their modified alternator bracket. Theres one person that i know of that has done this but they havent logged on in months. Is there anyone else?

Thanks!
