Ok im thinking about trading my 94 z28 on this car...I also read that these cars were overated they were said to have 330HP stock..and dynoed at 260 is this true>>also would this beat a 2000 GT Mustang..they have identical engine correct???What makes it a cobra also? I mean what parts that the GT doesn't have.

99 Cobras are supposed to have the "fix" to make them closer to advertised hp they were supposed to originally be at. You need to check with the dealer and see if it ever went in for the recall. Both have the 4.6 but Cobra's have a 4V where as the GT has a 2V. Cobra also has IRS (Independent Rear Suspension). Stock for stock, a 99 Cobra should beat a 99+ GT seeing it has about 40-50 more hp stock.... :)

<-----Most people don't leave their's stock though.....

I don't think the 99 Cobra in stock form can take a GT off the line, but I'm sure it would catch up around 50mph. Haven't had that competition before, so hard to say. 99 Cobra's were not overated; "fixed" cars should put about 260 down to the ground. I would say to look for a 2001 Cobra if you can, but I like the price of that 99.

Oh, the GT does not have the same motor. The Cobra has a 4.6 4V motor, whereas the GT is a 4.6 2V. The Cobra's lack low end torque, but do much better than the GT's up top.. nothing a set of gears couldn't fix.

Just don't do it....99 Cobras are an embarrassment to SVT...don't do it. Save the $$ and get an '03!
I can't say don't buy it. That price is killer & you'd have a Mach-like beast on your hands, especially w/ a few mods. 4Valves breath very well, especially w/ the heads on it. It's :bs: that a 4Valve lacks low-end TQ. Trust me; I know. My buddy has a GT we built w/ 4.10s. If he ever launches better than me @ all, I catch him @ no higher than 30MPH. & once I pass him, it's over. :rlaugh:

The mileage is higher than I like to see, but the price is good, so they've taken that into consideration.
If its had the 'fix' then by all means pick it up man, you'll love it. I dont care what anyone else says, Cobras are just neater cars than GT's. 99's especially are my favorite, because they dont have the super crappy T3650 trans that all newer stangs have, save for the 03+ cobras.

Get it and love it!

It does have a mile or 2 more than I'd like as well but I couldn'tve said it better myself. "Get it and love it!"

WTF are you talking about? Explain to me why they are an embarrassment to SVT. (pulls up a chair) I want to hear this ****... Before you open your mouth again take a look at my sig and tell me that my car is an embarrassment to SVT. jackass

I'll tell you like I tell everyone else contemplating getting the '99. GO FOR IT! They are great cars. Most if not all has had "the fix". Call SVT to verify if you're concerned. These guys have already covered everything else. Get gears and exhaust and don't look back. I love mine and will keep it forever. Good luck. Get it and keep us posted.

with nothing but catback, X pipe, and BBK cold air intake (which is known to hurt performance) I put down 287rwhp and 294rwtq. Also I had 4.10 gears in which show less power on the dyno. Since my car is a embarassment to SVT show me a GT that with those mods puts down more hp.

NO, i just think you're an embarassment to your car  haha jk man. I totally agree with you. The "fix" in those cars puts them at advertised horsepower. Definitely take a 4V over a 2V, they respond better to mods.
